For a custom TPU coiled cable, a meaningful quality plan identifies the measurement or test method, the sample state and the acceptance criterion. The equipment examples below are items to confirm with the production team for the specific cable; this page does not claim that every instrument or accreditation is available for every project.
Specification and Drawing Review
Record conductor count and gauge, circuit function, relaxed length, normal working extension, temporary maximum extension, straight tails, connector part number, pinout, material request and packaging revision. Resolve conflicts before samples are built.
Electrical Test Equipment to Confirm
- Continuity and pinout: agree on a fixture or cable tester that covers every circuit and connector position.
- Insulation or withstand checks: set the method and limits only when required by the cable design and end-equipment specification.
- Signal checks: for shielded or data cables, define bandwidth, grounding and assembly-level acceptance with the buyer.
Dimensional and Mechanical Checks
- Calipers or gauges: measure cable outside diameter, coil outside diameter, pitch and straight-tail length.
- Extension fixture: compare relaxed length, normal working extension and return behavior in a repeatable setup.
- Connector retention: review mating fit, strain relief and pull or bend criteria when specified.
Environment and Durability
Temperature, liquid exposure, ingress, abrasion and repeated-extension requirements differ by TPU grade and finished connector assembly. Request a named test method, sample count and pass/fail limit. Do not infer an IP rating, flex-life cycle count or temperature range from the jacket material alone.
Records and Sample Approval
Ask which calibration records, sample measurement sheets, electrical results, nonconformance notes and material documents can be supplied for your order. Approve the sample in the actual equipment or a representative fixture; record the approved drawing revision before production.
