Robot Sensor TPU Coiled Cable: Shielding and Motion Review Example

A robot sensor cable review scenario covering moving reach, signal circuits, shielding termination, connector retention and sample checks.

Illustrative project scenario: This page is a specification-review example for B2B buyers. It does not identify a customer, describe a completed order or claim unverified test results, certifications or savings.

Project Background

An automation team needs a compact lead between a stationary connection point and a moving robot peripheral. The circuit may combine sensor signals with low-voltage power, but the exact movement envelope and interface must be defined before a coiled cable is selected.

Buyer Challenge

A coil that looks tidy at rest can snag during travel or apply side load to a small connector. Shielding selected without a grounding plan may not improve signal behavior. The buyer must determine whether a coil is appropriate for the axis motion, then specify the required circuit and installation geometry.

Specification Review

Map the full robot motion and possible pinch points. Provide sensor and controller connector models, pinout, circuit voltage/current, signal type, required pairs, shield and ground termination. Distinguish normal operating extension from occasional maximum extension, and confirm space for the relaxed coil and both tails.

Review area Information to confirm
Circuit Sensor interface, power and signal conductors
Shielding Pairing, coverage, drain and grounding plan
Motion Travel envelope, relaxed length and working extension
Connector Mating part, locking method and cable exit

Quality Check and Sample Approval

Validate pinout, continuity and any application-defined signal checks. Review connector retention, cable exit, motion clearance, coil recovery and strain relief in the actual robot fixture. If an EMC or endurance requirement exists, agree on the method, cable mounting and pass/fail criteria instead of adopting a generic cycle claim.

Use the TPU testing and quality equipment review to agree on instruments, methods and records. The sample approval worksheet can record any deviations.

Packaging and Delivery Review

Protect keyed connector shells and label the cable with the approved drawing revision. Separate visually similar pinouts into distinct units and carton marks to prevent installation mix-ups.

MOQ, sampling schedule and production lead time must be confirmed after drawing, connector, material, test and order-volume review; no fixed terms are implied by this example.

Decision Gate

Release for production would require the buyer’s motion trial, electrical approval and a locked connector revision. No specific EMC performance, flex life or completed customer project is claimed here.
